Fate
Born 1990, F, from Bristol, United KingdomIt happened so long ago.
I was in my third of secondary school, life was simple. Friends, homework the usual.
It was a friday night when it happened. My brother went out with his friends for a good night out going to clubs and bars, no different to any other week.
But this one was different.
The phone rang in the middle of the night, my mother went to answer. her hand shaking, tears flowing from her eyes. something was wrong.
She screamed up the stairs to my dad.
"Chris has been stabbed, out of bed, we need to go!"
At the time my head was a puzzle as I slowly woke to the sound of my mothers voice.
"Chris is in hospital, you need to go next door" she said softly.
My head still puzzled, then it hit me. somethings was wrong, something bad.
I was rushed to my neighbours while I watched my parents drive away. My eyes filled with tears, my thoughts all confused. it was only till the next morning when my father had returned for me.
My brother had been stabbed after defending a friend. He didn't even start it. he was only protecting.
For days my brother remained in hospital with wires and tubes coming out of him. I couldnt bear it, I couldnt bear to see my brother in that state. My heart was torn in two. It felt as if it couldn't be healed.
The thought of losing my brother ran through my mind constantly.
but then my mother returned from the hospital with a smile on her face.
"He's fine."
My eyes began to fill with tears, they poured out of me like a waterfall.
I was relieved.
The next few weeks I visited my brother and watched him recover.
I am now happy to say he is back to his normal self and full of life.
