Case 38 - Crooked Assistance
Born 1983, M, from Atlanta,Texas, United StatesCommand Officer Rachel McCabe came in the detective’s office with Inspector Susie Young. They had just got back from James Waldo’s residence. Susie sat down at her desk. Rachel clapped her hands to get everybody’s attention. “Everyone listen up, we did not get to James in time. Now we are going to find out who killed James, plus locate Addictem and Brilliant. Honestly, I don’t think we have enough manpower,” said Rachel. “What if we used Brandon’s former crew to help us,” said Inspector Rebella Lucas. “You mean asking crooks to help us,” said Susie. “They helped the police catch Addictem before, so maybe they will do it again,” said Rebella. Rachel sighed. “We are going to have help, even if that means asking the crooks for assistance. Rebella I want you to get in touch with Brandon’s former crew,” said Rachel.
Rebella set up a meeting with Constantine Saunders, who was Brandon Bobel’s bodyguard, at the Golden Palace Restaurant. “What do you want?” asked Constantine. “I want Addictem off the street and the police are not doing everything they can to catch him,” said Rebella. “What! He is out of prison,” said Constantine. “Yes and he is fixing to start selling a dangerous drug,” said Rebella. “Let me make some phone calls and I will get back with you,” said Constantine. “Here is my number,” said Rebella writing her cell phone number on a napkin.
Constantine called Barney Featherhouse, Edward Scarry, and Ted Stavely to arrange a meeting. They met at a warehouse on 58th. “I got word that Addictem was back on the street selling drugs,” said Constantine. “I think we need to find him and take care of him once and for all,” said Barney. “Wait a minute. What if we capture Addictem and turn him over to the police. Maybe we would get a big reward,” said Ted. “Yeah, good thinking,” said Barney. “Listen, I want you to split up and locate him and bring him to me. Then I will take him to the Precinct and get the reward money and then we will evenly divide it up evenly,’ Said Constantine. “Why are you going to be the one that takes him and get the reward money?” asked Barney. “Because you idiots have warrants for your arrest!’ said Constantine. “Good point,” said Barney. Constantine put his hand over his face and shook his head. “All right get going, time is wasting,” said Constantine.
Rebella was sitting at her desk waiting for Constantine to call. “I guess they are not going to help us,” said Rebella. “You did not expect them to,” said Susie. “We don’t have time to argue, it was an idea that did not work,” said Inspector J.P. Bullet. “He is right instead of bickering back and forth we need to be coming up with a plan to catch Brilliant, Addictem, and whoever killed James,” said Rachel. “Right now the only thing we can do is start an air and ground search,” said J.P. Rachel sighed as she was just about to her wits in on what to do next. “J.P. Tina, Oscar, and Conner, I want you to start a ground search. Harvey, I want you to take Chopper One. Rebella, you and Susie will be on standby in case someone needs back up or something else happens,” said Rachel.
Tim Oram was walking down the street talking on his cell phone. Barney was driving down the road and saw him. Tim saw Barney, put his cell phone in his pocket and started running. Barney took out his cell phone and called Constantine. “I found Addictem and he is running from me. I am on Johnny Appleseed Street,” said Barney. “Don’t let him get away!” shouted Constantine. “Don’t worry, I won’t,” said Barney hanging up his cell phone. “Those idiots could not catch a cold,” said Constantine.
Rebella was sitting at her desk when her cell phone started ringing. She looked to see who was calling and saw it was Constantine. She answered the phone. “We have located Addictem. He is on Johnny Appleseed Street and running from my boys,” said Constantine disconnecting the call. Rebella got out of her chair and started putting her jacket on. “Come on, Susie, Addictem is on Johnny Appleseed Street and is running,” said Rebella. Susie got up and started putting her jacket on. “I will back you up,” said Rachel opening a desk drawer and taking out her service revolver. Dowzer, the robotic police dog was lying in the corner. “Come on boy,” said Rebella as she started out the door. Dowzer got up and followed Susie and Rebella.
Rachel got in her car and took out her police walkie talkie and advised all units to be enroute to the area of Johnny Appleseed Road that the subject had been spotted. She also advised that the subject was running.
Barney pulled over and started chasing Addictem on foot. He tackled him and then took him back to his car and tied his hands and legs up and placed him in the back seat. He heard sirens approaching. “It’s the police,” said Barney. He locked all the doors on the car to make it harder for Addictem to escape and took off running. J.P. drove by the car with Addictem in it. “Did you see that?” asked Inspector Tina Bullet. “You mean the car sitting on the side of the road with someone sitting in the back seat. I sure as heck did,” said J.P. making a u-turn.
J.P. and Tina approached the car with their service weapons drawn. “Look who we have here,” said J.P.
Tim Oram, a.k.a Addictem, was sent back to prison. Dr. Wilson Brilliant and his two henchmen managed to elude the police.
