A Hunger of the ZPeople
Born 1949, M, from NLR /Arkansas, United StatesHanky went into the kitchen; fixed himself a turkey sandwich; poured himself a huge glass of ice tea.
Then he walked back into his room and dropped down on the couch and began to eat his sandwich and drink his ice tea. "People suffer! People suffer!" he said.
Hanky ate part of his sandwich and drank half of his ice tea. He wouldn't eat the whole sandwich and he wouldn't drink the whole glass of ice tea. "People suffer! People suffer!" he said.
It wasn't that he wasn't still hungry! But he wasn't feeling his hunger; he was feeling the peoples' hunger!
He was just beginning to understand the meaning of hunger! He could feel the pain of the starving! He could feel the isolation of the homeless! He could see the fear of the frightened! He could see himself as if he was one of them!
