Francois and the Wolf
Born 1959, M, from Klerksdorp, South AfricaFrancois and the Wolf
Once upon a time, in a small village surrounded by a dense forest, a stray wild Wolf wandered into town, searching for food and shelter, love and kindness.
The villagers, fearing the Wolf’s wild nature, his fierce snarling language made them chase him away.
But one kind-hearted family, the Robbertze’s, saw something special in the Wolf’s eyes. Those yellow piercing eyes that could see deep into your soul.
The family, consisting of Jane the mother, M the father, and their young only son, Francois.
One day Francois decided to take the Wolf in, to his mother and father's dislike. They were very apprehensive about their son having a friend like a Wolf. Francois needed a friend, a true friend.
The Wolf was big and strong. His thick beautiful coat was a sight to behold. He was big and strong and carried scars of his past that were a sight to see. His piercing eyes gave you a sense of strength and intelligence unknown.
His ears twitched continuously searching for the sounds around him that would trigger the Wolf’s spirit into defence or attack mode.
The family named him Bacho (Apache for Wolf) and showed him kindness, love, care, respect, understanding, and patience.
At first, Bacho was hesitant, because wolves had a tendency not to trust easily, but soon he grew to trust the family completely.
Francois, a curious and adventurous little boy, with his courage and intelligence that stunned his parents and all the villagers, formed a special bond with Bacho.
Bacho was twice Francois's size, but that did not bother or disturb Francois. He was a fearless little boy due to years of being the only child and having to fight his way through life.
Bacho and Francois spent hours exploring the woods together, playing, and learning about each other's worlds. An animal and human connection that does not come easily.
Francois seemed to have the ability to communicate with Bacho which truly stunned his family and the villagers.
Bacho taught Francois about the forest's secrets. How to hunt, how to track prey. How to smell the breeze for danger. How to sit and listen to the singing birds in the forest in silence. How to appreciate the creation of Mother Nature.
Francois taught Bacho about the joys of family life and true friendship and most importantly Love, and the bond that he, Bacho could have with the human race.
As time passed, Bacho became an integral part of the Robbertze family. He would help with chores around the house, like warning when the food was about to burn on the stove, protect the family from harm, and even snuggle up by the fireplace on cold nights.
His early morning howling was the family's and villager's alarm clock to start a new day.
The villagers, who had initially feared and disliked Bacho, soon saw the love, companionship and understanding he brought to the Robbertze family and learned to accept him, the Wolf Bacho.
Together, the Robbertze’s and Bacho proved that with kindness, understanding, compassion, trust, respect, understanding and love, even the wildest of creatures can become a beloved member of the family and community.
Moral of the story.
In life, humans are so quick, NOT to accept those who are different, strange or have issues and stuff in life.
Humans are quick to criticize condemn and complain.
The three C’s in human life.
A feeling, attitude, and sense the Wolf is not born with or live according to.
Humans are quick not to look at the bigger picture and see the good in other humans and give that lone outcast human a chance to prove to them that they are worthy of love kindness and respect.
All humans go through so much stuff in life. We all have stuff. In life what humans reject can actually be of so much more value to oneself.
All you have to do is step out of your comfort zone and give the outcast a chance to prove their value in life.
There is nothing worse than being an outcast and not being given the opportunity to prove to the world that you are worthy and that you do belong.
Today and every day look out for the outcast, no matter their stuff, and do your best to make a difference in their lives, without the three C’s.
Maybe, just maybe that outcast that you had no time for with all their stuff, that you did everything in your power to keep away, and out of your life, can make a huge difference in your life and who knows, maybe, just maybe, even change your life for the good, forever….
