The Flying Snake
Adult, M, from Wentzville, Missouri, United StatesThere was once a beast that would travel through the waters and the air. This beast was well known by everyone across the world, and widely known by the sea creatures that were merely prey to this monster. This beast was a powerful god beyond any other being to exist in the oceans. The beast had the capability to manipulate the waters at it's will with great force. The many people that knew about the beast scattered when this beast would come through. “The Flying Snake” as the people liked to refer to him as, always had a bad intention. The god of the sea was capable of wiping out an entire species by just manipulating the water and consuming them. The enlarged, scaled, beast was a predator at heart. It was wired into this god's system. The Flying Snake, or some might call it, “The Dragon” was a black scaled beast that had red lines going around him. The aquatic beings could tell if the dragon was approaching, or in their presence. The flying snake’s mouth consisted of many very tiny teeth except for two teeth on the top part of his mouth and the the bottom of his mouth. The dragon would use his teeth to his advantage, to devour any being in his path. The people gave his official name, “Ryujin”, naming him after his water bending abilities.
There was a big village on the very coast of the sea. This village was inhabited by people that were nearly forced to be fighters. The god of the sea attacked at his own will. Ryujin would consume as much or as little as he wanted, and although this village has attacked him before, their efforts have caused the dragon to grow angrier, and the people have never done a significant amount of damage to him. This beast could not be dealt with in close quarters. The people of this village had only ever fought with swords in their time, and had no developmental improvements in their weaponry. However, a few of the people from the village were regarded as the “Samurians”. This meant that they were samurai, some of the best warriors for close combat. These warriors had thick armor on and would never take it off. Ryujin has attempted to consume a few Samuri before, but these were the only living beings he has failed in consuming. The samurai's thick armor was the only thing that this beast could not ingest, so over time every person apart of the village had this armor to wear throughout the day. Ryujin’s anger grew more and more over time with many failed attempts at consuming the people of the village. Although the people weren't dying to the foul beast anymore, parts of their village would be destroyed by Ryujin and it caused a lot of the villagers trauma and they always had to be prepared at every moment since Ryujin was unpredictable.
There was one man that never wore the Samurian armor. In fact, he never came out of his house unless he absolutely needed to. His name was Noki Noki or around the village known as “Nook”. The people of the village were never too fond of Nook and they really didn’t know much about him. Nook never really came and talked to anyone. Nook had lived in this village for decades, ever since he was a kid. Unbeknownst to the people of the village, Nook was training to battle Kyujin. Nook knew that no melee weapon could get close to the flying snake, so Nook took part in learning an untraditional fighting role that the village had no idea existed…… A Ninja. Nook self-taught himself how to use ranged weapons and different weapons that the village people had never heard about. As Nook got better and better, the time came when he felt he was prepared.
Out of nowhere one day, Nook emerged from his confinements. Nook summoned a handcrafted goat horn, and went into the middle of the village. Most people had this horn to alert others about the flying snake approaching, and everybody would gather together. When everybody gathered around, he told them that the flying snake was not yet here. Nook presented a plan to the people of the village.
“For years upon years, we have been terrorized by this hellish beast…” Noki Noki began.
“...It has been out of our capabilities for decades to have the fine weaponry to defeat Kyujin. Today I tell you all that I have the capabilities to impair this fool. It is a one of a kind weapon that I have hand crafted myself, and I call it the Shuriken. Although lightweight, these metal weapons are very sharp and I believe if I am able to get a proper set-up, I may be able to take out both of his eyes with great speed. My plan is to gather as many goats as possible, or any unwanted animal for that matter, and put them in a fixed area, to distract Kyujin, and then I will strike.” Nook finished.
One of the people of the village was actually a farmer who bred and kept many goats in a gated off area. Everyone in the village came together and agreed to gather all of the sheep and redirect them onto the very edge of the shoreline, so that Kyujin could eat his snacks as soon as he arrived. The plan was set, and the people of the village now had to wait. Nook went to his home and put on only a pair of all black pants with an all black knitted shirt. Nook lined each throwing star along the ridges of his pants located at his waist. Nook for some reason took one of his black shirts and cut it into a mask with just eye holes and a hole to breathe. As he slipped it onto his head, he heard a loud *BuuuoooooOOOOOOOuuu*. It was time.
Nook ran outside and was greeted by the flying beast in his prime, aggressive form. The flying snake was already feasting on the goats on the edge of the village. Eating one per about 3 seconds, the goats were quickly vanishing, and there were 42 left. Nook started to run from the middle of the village all the way to the edge, and once he got close he had to be very careful. Kyujin had some of the best sight a living thing could ever have, and Nook had to be absolutely sure he didn't even get a glance from Kyujin. Creeping through the spaces inbetween the village huts and forts, he got closer and closer to the ever loud goats, and the beast himself. Nook quickly flipped one of the throwing knives out from his waist, and then another, positioning himself under the beast with a Shuriken in each hand. Nobody ever got this close to the beast without immediately dying. Nok crept until he finally saw the great big yellow eyes of the beast, and he launched the sharp stars directly at them. Upon impact, the beast let out a shriek that nobody ever heard it do before. Kyujin started to wiggle in the air and fly around in weird patterns, struggling to function. Although Kyujin didn’t have a great sense of smell, he still had one. The beast floated to the ground, still jittering and vibrating aggressively, and then he started to search on the ground. Kyujin was so fast he went around the entire village in 15 seconds due to a burst of what seemed to be adrenaline. The beast found Kyujin and could sense he had no armor due to Nook's scent alone. Nook panicked and started to make a run for it, and Kyujin barely had to chase him because of his speed. As the mouth of Kyujin opened wide, and his teeth scraping the ground directly behind Nook’s foot, Nook felt his doom coming. Nook had no time to grab any more Shurikens because he was running at full speed and just as Kyujin was about to finish off dinner by consuming Nook, a sumurain miraculously appeared to cut off his other end. Kyujin instantly dropped to the ground, with a powerful impact that shook the entire village. Kyujin let out one final *Skreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek* and then became one with the ground. The beast, the flying snake, the dragon known as Kyujin, was defeated. Nook dropped to the ground out of disbelief at the miracle that he was provided with, and he laid there for a while. Nook has never felt so relieved and accomplished in his entire life. The village and the creatures around were all saved from the dragon who would not stop terrorizing.
The next morning, each and every one of the villagers carried the deceased dragon to where it belonged. They hauled this gigantic body back to the sea, and dumped the beast in, for Kyujin to never be seen alive again. The flying snake was no more.
No matter how big something may be, how hard it might be to accomplish that one thing in life, it is never impossible, as long as you can believe in yourself and give your all.
