The Truth Untold
Born 2007, F, from Florida, United StatesOne
EJ
The sound of a guitar can be heard behind the door. Behind my door. To my bedroom. I played my acoustic guitar, as the vibrations, the rhythm, the melodies, the music filled the room. My notebook sat on the bed with a pen laying on it. Words and scribbles covered the page. The sound of my voice singing can be heard. I sang my new song I had just written.
Drifting down the dark roads
Finding my way home
Should I go right or should I go left
Should I move forward or move back
Finding lost pieces of me
Stuck in a dark haze
Will I find a way out of this
Pitch-black maze
I nodded my head and wrote down the lyrics I had just sung feeling satisfied with them. It was then when I set my pen down, I heard a knocking on my window.
I looked towards the transparent glass and instead of seeing the tree that stood outside of my window, I found myself looking in the eyes of someone who is the cause of the smile on my face right now. I walked towards the window and unlocked it, sliding it up to let him in.
“Hello Walter.” I welcome him into my room as he climbs in through the window.
“Hello EJ.” He says to me with his goofy grin laid out on his face. God I love that goofy grin of his.
His smile moved in closer to my face as he gently pressed his soft, plump lips to mine. I smiled in our kiss. I’m so happy I can call this beautiful man my boyfriend.
I couldn’t help but giggle, causing us to break our kiss. He looked at me, confused.
“What’s so funny?” He asked me. Raising his right eyebrow.
I couldn’t stop giggling. I managed to get a hold of myself to say a few words. “I just love it when we get to kiss, when you sneak in my window before going to knock on the door and you come up here and we do this again.” I giggled again.
He laughed with me. His blonde hair moving in his face.
Walter, my boyfriend. He is a tall 6’1, pale skinned hot man. He has a white-ish blonde-ish hair color that looks like a gorgeous mop on his head, and blue, oh my gosh, blue gorgeous eyes. These eyes can make anyone fall in love with him in seconds when people see his smile and beautiful eyes. Of course he’s taken. A girl sent him a valentine and I just read 'em with him and it is the most tempting thing to say to those girls, “Yeah, he’s mine, sucker!” But of course he stops me. I am a short 5’3, porcelain white skinned weird girl. Or as Walter refers to me as, cutie. I have midnight black hair, down to my shoulders with messy bangs down to my eyebrows. It tends to be wavy sometimes, most of the time it will be straight. I have hazel and gray eyes, a mixed shade in my own opinion.
I push Walter back towards the window. “Get your butt down to the front door before my father comes in here!” I say to him as he climbs outside through the window.
He blows me an air kiss and salutes me as he climbs down the tree in front of my bedroom window towards the front door.
I, on the other hand, close the window and run right out of my bedroom and down the stairs of my home.
“Hey dad.” I say to him as I reach the first floor and walk to the kitchen.
“Hi.” He replies back. Not looking up at me from what he is doing.
I look towards him and see that he is on his laptop at the dining table. I know for a fact that he’s working because he is wearing his work glasses.
There is a knock at the front door. I smile when I hear it because I know who it is. Our guest was just in my room five minutes ago kissing me. I walk towards the door to answer it.
“I got it.” I assure my father.
When I open the door, I’m surprised to see a man who isn’t Walter. In fact, he was much older. He was taller, had dark brown hair pulled back with hair gel. He wore a suit. No tie. A white dress shirt with a blazer over it. Black dress pants and brown dress shoes. I could see a little bit of ink sticking up on his neck from his shirt. A tattoo. I couldn’t see it enough to know what it was. He wore rectangular glasses.
“Uhm, hello.” I say to the man. A slight uneasiness in my voice.
The man looked down at me with his sharp, dark eyes, causing me to feel a shiver down my spine. I didn’t get good vibes from this dude. An alarm in my mind was going off, telling me he was bad news.
I didn’t even realize my father was now standing next to me.
“Bruce!” He says and moves his hand up towards the strange man my father calls “Bruce”.
Bruce looked at my father and shook his hand. “Milo.” He says, keeping a straight face. Or what I think is a straight face. My guess is a resting bush face.
Him and my father’s hands released from each other and he moved his hand toward me to shake my hand. I hesitantly shook him and quickly took it back from him.
I noticed Walter peek his head out behind Bruce and I smiled. Walter walked around Bruce to get to me and walked in the house and went behind me. He hugged me from behind and started planting kisses on my cheeks.
I moved my hands to put them in the pocket of my jeans. And felt a piece of paper in them. I furrowed my eyebrows.
My Dad welcomed Bruce inside and they went to the dining table to talk about what I’m presuming is work. Walter grabbed my wrist and pulled me to my bedroom. I giggled as we went up the stairs and moved down the hallway.
As we walked in my room we closed my door halfway. And threw ourselves on my bed. My back was against his chest as she hugged me from behind and buried his face in my shoulder. I pulled the piece of paper in my pocket out and it was folded.
I unfolded the paper and the few words on the paper left me speechless.
He’s not who he says he is.

I stared at the words, in complete shock.
He’s not who he says he is.
What the frog?
Who? Who’s he? What’s going on?
“Babe?” I hear Walter’s voice speak.
I hid the note as he lifted his head to talk to me.
“Yeah?” I ask him, my voice sounding shaky.
You are so busted.
“You okay?” He asked me. A hint of concern in his tone.
“Yeah, I’m all good.” I lied.
Edith Jane, you suck at lying.
To my surprise, he believed me. I assume so. He buried his face in my neck again and gave it a kiss before groaning.
Nice! Let’s run-
Shut up. I slide up and pick up my notebook again along with my pen and get back to writing my lyrics.
~
I opened my eyes, groaning. Feeling Walter’s arms around me. Damn, did I fall asleep?
I moved my hand to pick up my phone from my nightstand and tapped the screen as it lit up the room, illuminating off my white walls.
10:37
Damn. I looked at Walter and smiled when I see his sleepy face. He looks like a little bunny. So cute. I picked my phone up and opened the camera app and snapped a picture of him sleeping on me. I then switched it to video recording and started recording.
“Baby..” I whisper to him, carefully trying to wake him up. Nothing.
I giggle as I go for the same motive I use every time he falls asleep on me like this.
“Walter, there’s a spider on your pinky toe..” I whisper in his ear.
I bursted out laughing as soon as he woke up and jumped off the bed. He fell on the floor and I’m smacking my thigh while laughing so hard. Tears coming to my eyes.
He sat up and glared at me as he sat on the floor and I’m still laughing.
He climbed back on the bed and started tickling me.
Our giggles filled the room as my dad knocked on my bedroom door.
Walter stopped and looked at him, as I was wiping the tears from my eyes.
~
I smiled as Walter’s headlights shined on my face. He blew me a kiss as he pulled out of the driveway and drove off. I was leaning against the doorframe of the front door, smiling as I watched him leave.
We are so in love. Is he the one? Is he going to be the one to go on one knee with a giant, expensive rock and beg us to marry him? I can already picture our kids!
I swear, my mind is wandering off like crazy.
“Dad, we need to send my consciousness to get some help. It’s going crazy again!” I joked as I walked back in the house shutting the front door with my foot.
“Do we kiddo? What was your consciousness saying now?” My father teased.
I look at him and chuckle. “I don’t know, she’s going on and on about how Walter is going to beg me to marry him and what our kids will look like.” I answer him, with a joking tone in my voice.
He ruffled my hair as I sat down on a stool by the counter. “So, Edi,” He spoke, using my nickname that only he calls me. “Walter treating you nice?” He asked me.
I chuckled and nodded. “He’s amazing. Honestly. He literally texted me last week saying ‘Happy 7th Full Moon baby!’ and I fell for him more because of that.” I say to my dad, smiling.
“Edi,” He says to me. “Whatever you do, please, don’t let him break your heart..” He says as his hand moves to my face. I felt his thumb caressing my cheek lightly.
I hold his hand on my face and smile at him. “Dad, if he breaks my heart. I know for a fact that you will be here. You will be here hugging me as I cry all my tears. As you make him regret breaking my heart. But I know Walter won’t break my heart. He’s awesome. My one and only boyfriend. And you are my one and only father.” I say to him, reassuring him that Walter would never break my heart.
But little did I know…
It wouldn’t be Walter breaking my heart…
