Lucy The Loyal Labrador
Born 2023, F, from Moncton, CanadaAs a little girl, Lilianna Rose Thomas had kind and sympathetic manners. But despite her charming ways, some things about her were not quite as lovely. This sweet-tempered girl was a little girl with a lovely personality; however, she did not like to accept others' apologies. The way she saw it, if someone had hurt her, they should not be forgiven. If, on the other hand, things had turned around, she would have had to be forgiven at once (which is of course, not fair).
The story began on a cold, windy day in September when Lilianna was just a few yards away from her home.
“I have a strange feeling that something might happen today."
Lilianna thought as she entered her home quietly and put her shoes away.
Arianna was Lily's younger sister, had pale blue eyes and red hair, and was just 5 years younger than Lilianna, but despite her early age, she was smarter than Lilianna.
“Here you are,” she said happily when she saw Lily. “I was waiting for you."
“How come?” asked a perplexed Lilianna
“Lucy was licking something from your table,” she explained. "She was licking a paper with " Essential for your tests” written on it."
"I will go check," said Lilianna simply, but deep inside she was very worried.
Lilianna climbed upstairs and tiptoed to her room and the door flew open as she pushed it hard.
"Oh no" wailed Lilianna. "My homework"
The adorable puppy was slobbering all over her homework.
“Out of my room!" she screeched. "You’re probably the most ridiculous pet ever."
“Now” she ordered when Lucy seemed not to pay her any attention. Lucy ran out of the room whining grumpily.
“Now I’ll have to do it again,” thought Lilianna as she picked up her homework and anger filled her dark blue eyes “and I won’t forgive that dog”
Later that evening Arianna accidentally set fire to the garden while playing with rocks.
Lilianna had been watering her mother’s tulips as part of her daily chores.
“Fire! Fire!” Screamed Lilianna as she was starting to be surrounded by flames, "Someone save me!"
She lost her voice after repeatedly yelling for help, The smoke and the heat caused her brain to become clogged up and she was unable to think clearly. There was a moment of dizziness, and she was unable to breathe clearly, which resulted in her fainting spell, which caused her to collapse to the ground.
Lianna woke up in Flower Hill Hospital the next evening with a broken wrist and twisted ankle.
“Good evening,” said a blonde and curly-haired lady who walked into the room with a trolley. “You must be Lilianna Thomas."
“I am so sorry, but who are you?” asked Lilianna, unable to recognize her. “And no, I am Lilianna."
“Oh, my apologies, I am Florence Delacour,” said the nurse as she served dinner. “I’ll be your nurse until tomorrow morning."
“Do you know how I got here?” asked Lilianna curiously, twisting her hair almost unconsciously.
It couldn't be her parents since they were out of town on business.
“All I know is that a strange dog came and wouldn't stop barking” The nurse shrugged, “the ambulance drivers thought there was an emergency and followed the dog then they found you”
“Oh my,” said Lilianna to her soup
After a while, Miss Delacour left the room and left Lilianna alone with her thoughts.
She suddenly felt as though an ice cube had fallen into her stomach, an extremely uncomfortable feeling.
Lucy saved me... thought Lilianna sadly as she looked at her reflection in the mirror in front of her... she saved me even though I behaved so horribly towards her.
That night was the longest and loneliest night for Lilianna. She was steeped in guilt, and she bitterly regretted having shouted at her dog.
The next day her parents came home and visited Lilianna in the hospital. They stayed till noon then left to take care of Arianna and Lucy.
Lily slept for some time then finally in the evening Dr. Rose discharged her.
Lilianna returned home and apologized to Lucy for not accepting her apology and accepted it too, Lucy barked happily and licked her.
"I think Lucy is saying ‘It’s okay in dog language,” said Arianna who was, for some reason laughing her head off.
Lilianna decided that Lucy needed something special, so, all of them gave Lucy a thank-you party on Sunday.
“To Lucy the Loyal Labrador” exclaimed Arianna
And Lilianna promised to accept other people’s apologies, and everyone agreed.
The End
