The Traveller Of Silent World
Adult, F, from Mianwali, PakistanThe thunder was rumbling, and the owls were hooting. There was an awkwardly strange coldness in the air. David, a cab driver, saw an extremely old woman. She had a hunchback. She was frail, and her face was wrinkled. She was looking here and there; perhaps she wanted help.
"May I help you?" David asked.
The old woman, in her feeble voice, replied, "Please take me to my home."
Then she sat in the car and told David her address.
As he got closer to her house, the weather started changing. Now the thunder stopped, and there was a pin-drop silence. It was not like a normal silence; rather, it was deathly quiet. Suddenly, the old woman uttered, "Stop!"
Then she stepped out of the car, and for a fare, she gave a rotten leaf to David.
Perplexed, David followed her home—to a graveyard, where she disappeared over a patch of earth.
