Born to entertain
Born 1980, M, from Exeter, United KingdomPeople always say “you were born to entertain”, tell me what does that mean?
When I arrived There were no camera crews, no ticket sales or stands selling ice cream.
I did not come out with a top hat and cane.
At the moment of my birth nobody shouted encore, let's see that again, more more more.
At the moment of birth, I started to shout, the doctors and nurses that were standing about, hurried to weigh me and to know my amount.
There was no introduction, nor round of applause, no curtain to pull back, no squeaky wooden floorboards, no entrance music, or sound of a drum, all I did was cry before being handed over to my Mum.
If I was born to entertain, can we please try that again?
Could someone please hand me the mic? Is this on? Can everyone hear me alright? Would someone tell me, do they have any requests? Will there be any more special guests?
I worked out a good comedy routine while In the womb. But I cannot for the life of me, remember any of it now I am in this room. I will put it down to the stage fright, I must've got before coming out here tonight.
Now most of the spectators have gone away, and I tried to think of something to say to this lady called Mum, who just won't look away. This lady is holding me so tight, and rocking me and soothing all of my stage fright. She's looking at me with such love in her eyes, she wipes away my tears and hushes my cries. If i was born to entertain, there is no need to make amendments to the script or try again. This is my life and can't you see, I am happy where I am, this is where I am meant to be.
