The Mad Fairy.
Born 1951, M, from Wilmington NC, United StatesAuthor's Note:
Another Attempt at Flash Fiction. This is truly a fun form of writing. I invite all of you to read Rose's Flash Fiction, and then try it yourself. I am learning so much by doing these stories.
*****
The Villagers huddled in fear. Just a few moments earlier they thought it was hilarious when they stomped out the “Fairy Ring” of toadstools that they discovered in the forest glenn near the village. When they realized how different each of the toadstools were: spotted with blue and pink polka dots, emblazoned with magical symbols, or painted a solid color- they knew they were looking at a real “Fairy Ring.”
So they stomped them with glee. After all, what could a Fairy, no bigger than your thumb…and female with tiny wings…do to full size Human Beings. They soon found out.
The Voice was pretty, to pretty to be Human. And it was soft too…only the words were hard:
“You danced with glee as you destroyed our Fairy Ring. Now you will dance …forever!”
The tiny little Fairy, no bigger than your thumb, lifted a wand, no bigger than a small sliver in a child’s fingertip:
“DANCE!”

06/27/2019I am so glad you are enjoying doing flash fiction, I enjoyed it when a few friends introduced me to it. The 100 word story is quite an achievement but great fun to try. Well done once again Kevin :-)

06/27/2019Hey Rose,
I hope that heat wave is missing you over there across the pond, if it isn't- hydrate, and stay in the shade!
Yeah, 100 words or less is some terrific writing. The Reader has to fill in the blanks.
Smiles, Kevin

06/26/2019Thanks Aziz,
I find these are difficult to write...I keep making them longer than I would like! I am hoping to get them down to 100 words- or less!

06/25/2019Thanks Gordon,
Quite a compliment coming from a writer of your stature. I was inspired by a new addition to our Community (Rose English) who writes damn near poetry as her form of Flash Fiction. So I decided to try my hand at it. I am hoping to pound out nine of them in the near future.
Have a great day.
Smiles, Kevin
