A paradise vacation
Born 2010, F, from Beaverton, United StatesThe day I arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii, I was really excited to swim because the weather was so gorgeous. We left Oregon where the climate was rainy and dreary, so the sunshine welcomed us to Aulani resort.
When we entered our hotel room, we unpacked and changed into our swimsuits.
When we finished changing, we walked to the swimming pool. The air felt really warm. As soon as I saw the pool, I jumped in, making a big splash. The water poured over me as I came out from under the water. Then, my sister and my dad came into the pool. We played and splashed each other. We taught my sister how to swim. When she knew how to swim, we swam together and I did some tricks in the water. We played in the water for about two hours. It was really fun.
After we swam in the pool, our parents took us to Aulani’s private beach. I stepped in the ocean water. It felt much warmer than the ocean in Oregon. My sister and I swam in the ocean, played on the shore, and relaxed on beach towels.
The next day, we changed into swimsuits again and got ready for snorkeling. My dad and I put on the snorkel gear and went into the water. I saw a lot of colorful fish of all different sizes. They matched the colorful reef. They were beautiful. We swam and looked at the fish for a long time. My dad took pictures of the fish by using a waterproof phone case. It was fun snorkeling.
The next day, we had breakfast with Disney characters. They walked around taking pictures with each family. The breakfast was a buffet, so we ate a lot for breakfast. It all tasted really good. We had normal breakfast at the beginning, like scrambled eggs and cereal, but near the end we had desserts like donuts. After breakfast, we went back into our hotel room to pack everything up. We were leaving this resort and going to stay at a different hotel called Hyatt Regency. When we finished packing, we checked out of the hotel and left for the Hyatt Regency. When we got there, we checked into the hotel and went to our room. I looked out the window. The view was gorgeous. We saw the ocean and the sand. We also saw part of the city. We saw cars and buses and lots of people! Then, we changed into swimsuits. We were going to swim at this beach too!
When we finished changing, we walked to the beach, which was just across the street. We walked across the street and put all our stuff on the large towel my mom brought. Then, I ran into the ocean. The waves hit my legs. It felt good. The breeze was really nice. I went farther into the ocean. It was really fun swimming in the ocean.
The next day, we went to a luau. It is where you have a big celebration and have a feast. First, they performed a show on boats that were on a stream they created themselves. Then, we watched a movie. It was really cool.
After the movie, we played lots of Hawaiian games. They were all really fun. We played with sticks, and balls. Then, we tasted some Hawaiian food like poi. It is a dish that usually goes with food that has a big flavor because poi has a bland taste. After everything we did, it was time for a show with fire in it. The actors juggled torches, spun sticks with fire on both ends, sat on fire, and much more other amazing tricks! The show was really breathtaking. We watched it for about an hour and half. After the show, we drove back to the hotel room. Then, we got ready to go to bed.
The next morning, we packed up everything and left for the airport. It was our last day in Hawaii. It was really fun being in Hawaii. I hope that I can go back there soon.

07/08/2019Aloha Ms, Chu,
My little family used to live in Hawaii - and your tale brought back many memories. We have done all the things your family did, but not at that resort. We did go to the Polynesian Cultural Center where you saw the parade of boats, and the fire juggling- we had several friends that worked that show many many years ago.
I hope you return to the Island later in life- and have just as much fun as you did this time!
Smiles, Kevin
