The Mythical Sorceress (Part 2/3)
Born 2000, M, from Ballymena, United KingdomChapter 6 - 1233 words
Sun rays blasted down on us as we arrived at the village, grey gravel mixed with yellow lined the paths, green shrubs and hedges were on the edges, the foliage swayed with the gentle wind Some improvements have been made to the village since I last saw it, a few more cottages had been built. They still had the grey bricks and golden roofs but the village looked much larger now. As we continued walking I saw a fountain in the centre of the village, the villagers were dressed in ragged clothing surrounding the fountain.
Spheres of luminous light hovered above.
“Hmm, I wonder what is going on” I questioned as I looked at Darian.
Darian said, “Maybe they built the fountain and are celebrating?”
The villagers turned around as we approached and they kneeled before me. The crowd hummed “Welcome Crown Princess Clarissa, you resemble your mother, our previous Queen.”. My eyes widened and knots turned in my stomach, I moved to face Darian and looked at him puzzled. He nodded his head and I stepped closer to the crowd. I said, “Thank you for your kind welcome but please call me Clarissa”.
The villagers rose and bowed as they said: “We are glad you are heir to the throne, perhaps you are the one to stop the Trappers and bring peace to this world”. I questioned “ Darian and I will try our best but we are in need of aid, Darian was injured earlier”. They all rushed towards Darian and invited him to the village Shaman, Razoth.
I followed the crowd to outside one of the new cottages, this one appeared to be different as they had markings from the academy on the walls.
The crowd left and I knocked on the oak wood door, the door flung open and I was greeted by a man.
“Welcome my children, my name is Razoth, I am the village shaman.”
Feathered wings were attached to his short charcoal hair. His face was circular in shape and was black, this was home to a narrow nose, thick, full lips. His eyebrows were bushy which highlighted his navy blue eyes. Razoth was wearing brick red cloth which draped down to his feet, this robe had multiple white seams that slithered all over it. My eyes followed the seams down to his feet and I discovered that he was barefoot.
He welcomed us inside and I saw multiple brown shelves that had many multicoloured bottles which contained clear liquid beside these bottles were potted green plants that sprouted leaves which pulsated energy and then into marks all around the room.
The floor was made of tiled marble, which stabilized the grey brick walls.
A few ceiling lights hung down from the ceiling.
An oak table was in the centre of the room which had mortar and pestles on top of it and an assortment of herbs. On the side of the table were oak chairs which had white cushions on them.
“What are your names?” questioned Razoth.
“My name is Clarissa and his name Darian, he was injured in a fight and we would be grateful if you would be able to try and heal him” I smiled.
“Oh, Clarissa as in the Crown Princess? I am graced with your presence my lady” bowed Razoth.
“Yes, everyone calls me that but I would prefer if you called me Clarissa.” I blushed
He asked, “Where were you injured, young sir?”
Darian pointed towards his chest and head.
“I see, this process will be agonizing, you must stay still for the spell to work, remember this will not completely heal you it will help accelerate the healing process, please remove your shirt and make your way to the table and lay down and we can begin” chatted Razoth
Darian replied “Thank you Razoth, I will be forever in your debt”
He unbuttoned his shirt and revealed his subtle six pack, I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks and I looked away.
I heard footsteps fading away and I turned around to see Darian on the table and Razoth blended together some herbs in a mortar and pestle.
“We will begin now, please ready yourself,” Razoth said.
Darian glimpsed over to me and then laid his head down on the table, his body spread out, his arms and legs were extended outward to resemble a starfish.
Razoth hovered his hand over Darian's chest and blue energy discharged from his them and travelled into his body, he grunted and squirmed.
“You must remain still” gasped Razoth.
I walked over to Darian and grasped his hand, it was sweating and he was beginning to shake, I said: “You will be okay, you will get through this, remember I am here with you!” He flung his head back as Razoth continued to perform the spell, his hands waved up and down from Darian's chest to his head.
Darian started to yell “Please make it stop!”
“It is almost over,” said Razoth. I gazed into Darians eyes and I see sweat and tears drip from his hair and eyes. I brushed my hands through his soft hair and he smiled as he gritted his teeth.
“I am now finished, you may stay here to rest if you have nowhere else to go, I shall conjure a few beds and supplies in one moment but I must now rest, that spell drains my magic quickly” Razoth stuttered.
I said “Thank you for your aid and allowing us to stay for a while”, Razoth nodded his head and left out the front door, a calming breeze rushed in.
I pressed my hands against Darians wet back and helped him to sit up, I reached for his black button up shirt and gave it to him. “Thank you for being with me, I don’t know what I would’ve done without you” gushed Darian.
“It was nothing, you would have done the same” I grinned and I played with my hair.
He grunted as he put on his shirt, I nodded my head and helped him button up his shirt, our hands touched, his hands were smooth, butterflies swarmed around in my stomach and I could feel my face going red as did his, I finished helping him button up his shirt and he thanked me
Suddenly, the room changed and two beds appeared, one was velvet red and the other was royal blue. They both had multiple white puffy pillows and each had a single white blanket on the bottom of the beds. The bed frame was constructed out of dark wood which supported the structure of the bed.
Darian cackled “Ah, Would it be okay for me to get some rest”
I responded “Of course I should rest too, once we awaken we shall train somewhere”
Darian beamed “Yes it will be fun, goodnight Clarissa”.
He proceeded to climb into the bed and he snuggled himself into the quilt and pillows.
I did the same, the feeling of the soft, fluffy mattress comforted me, we were able to get a good sleep, beats sleeping outside, doesn't it?
I whispered, “Mother, Sara, I hope you are at peace, I will try my best to free our people and rise to power.” I sighed and pulled the covers over me, I started to feel sleepy and soon after I plunged into a deep slumber.
Chapter 7 - 2252 words
I jolted awake and I was breathing heavy, I looked outside one of the windows and it was daylight, we must have slept from midday yesterday to this morning. I looked over to Darian's bed and I saw him sleeping.
I quietly crept around the room looking for something to eat, on one of the shelves a bottle read ‘A meal for one’, I reached for the bottle and took out the cork and sniffed it, it smelled like scrambled eggs and toast’. I put the bottle to my lips and drank it. It tasted exactly as it said it would, I was surprised, I now somehow felt full.
All I needed to do was get dressed, brush my teeth and hair, and maybe shower. I was gazing around the shelves and I saw another bottle read ‘Teeth cleanser, use it small amounts, just swallow’, I drank and it tasted like toothpaste, my mouth was now feeling fresh. I looked around and I saw a hairbrush, I proceeded to brush my hair as Darian mumbled: “Nare what are you doing here?”. I thought nothing of it, maybe it was just a dream. My hair was tatty so the brushing was dreadful, but I had one more thing to do, that was to get changed out of these old clothes.
I quietly opened the front door and left, the villagers were walking around and I stopped one of them and asked: “Do you know where I could get some clothes”.
The man bowed and said, “Yes my lady, follow me.”
I followed the man and I arrived outside a cottage which had a sign which said ‘For all of your clothing needs, inquire within’
I walked into this cottage and it looked similar to Razoths cottage, perhaps this was another Shaman? An old lady wearing ragged ripped clothing approached me and questioned: “How can I help you, Crown Princess”.
“I am looking for something that would be protective whilst also being comfortable,” I asked.
She gestured me forward and pointed towards the centre of the room, I stood there and she conjured multiple options of clothing before I saw the one I liked most.
It was a black tank top alongside a white leather jacket and black leggings and finally a pair of black combat boots. I tried them on and looked in the mirror, I loved the way the clothes looked on me. In the mirror's reflection, I saw Darian with a big smile on his face when he noticed I saw him he looked away and gazed around the shop.
“I caught you looking you know” I laughed
Darian replied, “That outfit suits you, you look beautiful in it”.
I thought ‘does he mean this, does he share my feelings, from his actions I think he does, but I do not want to assume’
I walked towards him, he was dressed in a white t-shirt with black lines around the shoulders. His bottoms were black skinny jeans and similar boots to mine.
“You don't so bad yourself” I jested.
We met up at Razoths cottage and he provided us with a bag for our journey containing rations, a magical pop-up tent and some clothing. All we needed to do was wait for Omen to arrive.
“Shall we practice?” I questioned Darian. He nodded his head and cracked his knuckles “Ready yourself”. I laughed “No, you better get ready for the wrath of a hastings!”. He grinned and his necklace started glowing blue, he stepped towards me and propelled water at me. I dodged left and counter attacked by sending waves of air towards his feet. He fell to the floor. “You got lucky?” he jested. “Oh really” I said “Give me your best shot!” He was now on his feet and he ran towards me with water surrounding him. I followed only with a shield of air. We were a couple of feet apart. He laughed and moved out of the way and tripped me. “Not fair!” I said. I swung my feet around and aimed at his ankle, he jumped. I reached for his leg and grabbed onto it “Hey!” he laughed “Cheater!”. He fell to the floor and said “Well done mighty Hastings, you have bested me in combat”. I smiled at him and we both got to our feet and headed back to Razoths hut to rest.
The next day Omen arrived and we met him at the fountain, it gushed water from the top and ran down the side of the marble fountain into the collection area which was in the shape of a clover.
The villagers gathered around and I said: “We do not need to fear him, he will be escorting us to Raymarsh where we will face the leader”.
The crowd echoed “Good luck Crown Princess, farewell we wish you a safe return”.
I nodded my head and turned around to face Omen, Darian was already over beside him, gesturing me to hurry so we can leave.
“Goodbye,” I said
The crowd released their final cheer as I walked over to Darian and Omen. Darian was dressed in the same outfit as before and as was I. Omen was wearing what he always was, the sinister black and red robes, this time without the mask. Darian teleported us outside the temple and our journey began.
The weather was clear, not a cloud in the sky, it was humid. “You guys prepared” Omen chuckled “Yes we are” we both said.
Omen swayed his hands around and pushed the mountains apart, revealing a narrow, dark passageway. He disappeared into the darkness. I hesitantly walked into the passage and was embraced by fear of the unknown and a chilling breeze. I summoned a flame and it lit up the passage, we were not alone, spiders and beetles crawled up the walls. “Are you scared of the dark, want me to hold your hand or something” Darian laughed. “I am not scared of the dark!” I yelled. Darian grasped my hand, my body shivered and with our hands interlocked we braved the passage.
Eventually, the passage came to an end, there was a dim light at the end so I dispelled the flame, my hands were sweaty and I let go of Darians hand. The passage became colder as we approached the end, I saw Omens figure at the end. We were finally through, I was greeted by a green swampland, the earth was waterlogged and dense grasslike plants grew from the water. The sky was dimly light and clouds concealed the entire sky. I could not see far in front of me due to thick fog.
“It is quite cold” I shivered as I rubbed my arms. Darian took off his jacket and offered it to me. I shook my head and said “No, but thank you, we all need to keep as warm as possible, I did not expect it to be as cold as this”. Omen grunted, “Well get used to it, the land will be like this until we reach the teleporter, I would say it would be a minimum of a two-day walk.”
Darian and I sighed.
Walking through the marsh was absolutely terrible, the water was getting deeper and deeper, up until my knees were soaked in frosty water. Eventually, the water levelled and was only up until my ankles deep. I could see more of Coldmoore now, it opened up, large wilting trees limped from the mountainside.
Everyone's breathing was heavy, I was panting and trying to catch my breath, I felt as if we were walking for hours. Sometime later a piece of land raised over the water.
“Can we set up camp there, I think we have done enough for today” I panted. Darian said “I agree” Omen grunted, “Fine, you weaklings”.
I laughed “Weaklings, you are the one who surrendered to me remember, so watch your tone!”
Long green vines tangled off this piece of land providing us with a way to reach the top, it was only a couple of feet high. Darian said, “Want me to boost you up”. I said, “Yes, that would be so kind of you”. He laughed and he lifted me and I grabbed onto the vines, they immediately released sharp points and jabbed me in the hand. “Argh” I wailed out in pain. “Don't touch the vines, they stabbed me”. Omen laughed “Haha, I was about to say don't touch them but I was too late”
Darian grunted at him.
My hand leaked blood and painted the vines red, they were now slippery. I reached the top. The platform was covered in verdant grass and a couple of roses and tulips. It was beautiful.
A piercing roar echoed from the rocky water, the ground started to violently shake. A giant snake-like creature lashed out from the water and pounced towards Darian.
“You guys ready for this” Omen yelled
“Yes” We both replied.
I jumped off the platform, causing water to splash over Darian and Omen “Hey! Watch it!” they yelped. “Sorry” I mumbled.
The serpent's scales were light green which blended into a blueish purple colour. Its face was covered in pointy green spines, it roared revealing its multiple rows of teeth which were covered in a maroon liquid.
Darian caused waves to forcefully push the serpent back, it erupted from the waves, jumping in front of me, my hands started to shake, my heart was violently rattling against my ribcage. I focused and lifted a rock smashing it into its face, causing it to wail out in pain. It swivelled back and Omen caused black lighting to engulf the creature.
“NOW! I will not be able to stop it for long” Omen yelled
I rushed towards it as did Darian, the electricity stopped, I looked back and Omen was fleeing.
“Hey, you get back here!” I hissed. Darian said, “We need to protect ourselves.” It whipped its tail forward, it was partially severed. It connected with my chest and flung me back, the pain was monstrous. Darian yelled. I landed in the water, now my entire body was soaked. I quickly got up and it was slithering swiftly towards me, Darian locked it inside a water bubble, I started pelting rocks into the serpent's body, the roars were deafening but eventually they came to halt.
Darian cheered “Yay we did it”. I sighed “Yes we did, but we killed a creature, it was probably just protecting its home”. “Come on now Clarissa, it would have killed us!” he signed.
He walked over to me and embraced me as he said “How about we climb onto that platform, and rest for a while”
He released me and sometime later we were on top of the platform, we used the magical tent, once it was placed it caused two small white tents to appear, and an unlit wooden campfire. I conjured a flame and lit the campfire, soon the fire raged providing us with much-needed heat and light.
The night was peaceful, however, it was unusually quiet. I got changed inside the tent, Darian called me out and we were resting by the fire, cuddling into each other. “This is nice” I chatted “I wish once this is over, we will be able to do this”. Darian replied, “Yes, it is and I hope so too, Clarissa”.
My body was snuggled into his, I was freezing, this was warming me up. He started playing with my hair, nerves were already making me queasy. The pain from the serpent was slowly fading, luckily Razoth provided us with some healing potions for a quick fix.
I looked back and Darian was smiling at me, his rosy cheeks were noticeable now. He gazed into my eyes as he cradled me in his arms. I brushed his hands through my hair. Nerves tingled in my stomach, and my body started to slightly shake and sweat. Vibrations travelled in my body, and my heart rate increased. I peeked down to his enticing lips then glimpsed back up to his eyes. He gently pulled me closer to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck. I could feel his breath on my cheek. I leaned in more and closed my eyes then our lips connected. Euphoria raced throughout my body.
I pulled away while opening my eyes and smiled as I giggled.
"That was amazing!"
"I can't believe we did that!" he replied.
“EUGH! Teenagers nowadays” Omen squirmed. “Oh look who makes a return, you basically left us for dead!” I yelled. Omen laughed “I knew you two could protect yourselves ”Darian interjected, “You are supposed to be our guide, you can sleep by the fire and keep guard for tonight, for the stunt you pulled”.
Darian and I said goodnight and went our separate ways, Omen was laying by the fire “Goodnight” Omen said. “Goodnight,” I said.
I unzipped the tent door and I could see a single green sleeping bag, with the white fluffy pillow like wool lining the case. It was enticing me forward, I crawled inside the tent and proceeded to rezip the tent, I was inside the bag and it was warm and comforted me. I ended the night by thinking ‘Mother, Sara, I am closer to freeing our people, I hope you are safe’. Tears welled in my eyes, I muffled my crying with the sleeping bag, then I woke up. I don’t remember going to sleep, perhaps I was extremely fatigued.
