Persistence
Born 1999, M, from Wentzville, United StatesAs the adult slammed the door in the teenagers face, he turned with a glum look on his face with his head hung low. Like the house before, he took his walk of shame back to his red wagon full of candy bars.
“I hate fundraisers," Miguel muttered under his breath.
Miguel’s father was waiting next to the wagon with his arms crossed, smiling.“How’d it go, son?”
“How do you think it went, dad?” Miguel snapped.
“Watch your mouth, son.”
“But we’ve been out here all day, dad. Can we please leave?”
“I told you that you need to clean up your act whenever you’re trying to sell to people. They don’t want to buy from a rude kid like yourself.”
“I’m sorry; it’s just so frustrating. Plus, I think it might rain soon.”
“That’s just fine, but you need to at least sell three before we go home, Miguel. When you’ve done that, then we can go home if you’d like.”
Excited to hear the news of going home, Miguel pulled up his pants, fixed his shirt, put on a smile, and marched right up to the next house with confidence.

05/16/2018I love your story about responsibility and persistence, and the way your character chooses to change his own attitude and keep trying in the hope of finally succeeding at his task, and maybe even enjoying it too. Congratulations on being selected as one of the Story STARS of the Week! : )
