My name is Cat
Born 1990, F, from Bogota, ColombiaI don’t understand why my parents gave me this name. I would think that my parents didn’t mind how I would be known. Or maybe they took a long time trying to choose it. Actually, I really don’t know why they gave me this ordinary name? I am not an ordinary cat - I am an Aristocat - I live in the most tree-lined mountain. I eat the most exquisite dragonflies and tasteful butterflies. I also have a big dog as my best friend. My parents say that it is my brother. He is called Mr. President (Then, ask me if I have a discontent with my name).
Yesterday, I was following a butterfly, then I ran as fast as I could but she was faster than me. She seemed to be the fastest butterfly on my territory. Then when I got tired she got tired too and I caught it. While I was finally eating it, I realized that I crossed too many miles and I saw on the road two guys walking towards me and saying how beautiful I was, so I took advantage to ask them my way back home. They didn’t know how to get there so they invited me to stay in their house. I accepted because I was so tired, thirsty and hungry. Then I asked for their names and I told them my name. It was the most significant moment in the story of my name. They started to laugh! And said “who’s such an uncreative to name you like that!” And I confirmed that i was the least important in my home.
It was when I decided to live with them and get a new name. They tried to choose a name for me and thought about it from early in the morning, to late at night; finally, they started to call me Aristokat. I felt really thankful for it. I felt my life as a new born.
However, after some time, I began to feel home-sick; I missed Mr President. I missed playing with his tail and drinking from his bowl. Thus, I went to my new friends and said good bye and thank you!
I came back my home. I understood that family is more important than any adjective. For that reason, now, I am really proud of my name.
