The Drought
Born 2004, F, from Nashville,Tennessee, United StatesThe Drought
As the manager of the world's water services, I have been monitoring the world for a year now, and I am watching the world try to survive without water. Since it has been a year without water, everything that had already been made with water is gone. The only thing the people have managed to save is one gallon of water that is kept in my office in a lock box. As I have been observing, I have noticed that more people are dying than being born. The world needs a lot of help.
One day a story showed up on the news about a man that consumed the last gallon of water. That water was being saved for emergency uses only. It was being stored in my office, and it was my fault this all happened because I forgot to lock the door. Now that they officially know that there is no hope, the people are starting to dismay. How will the world stay conscious? Will we soon become extinct?
The police started to inspect my office for clues, and to look at the security footage. The only problem was that this man had on all black, and the only parts of him we could see were his eyes and his ankles, do there was no easy way to figure out who this man might be. As the police were looking around, they found the empty jug in the dumpster of the office, so the police took it to a scientist to be examined. They also wanted to see if the saliva left on the jug could be a match to another person.
As the police were investigating, the world was getting worse. There were only Five hundred people left. Water is what all living things need to live, and they didn't have it. Not to mention the land. Every plant and animal had died. The last ten police were working as hard as they could to figure out who this man might be, but what they did know was that he was still living because he sent me a text saying, "I'm still searching for more water." It didn't have any name to identify who it was. The police soon narrowed it down to seven men because saliva can't just belong to one person like a fingerprint.
The police finally narrowed it down to two men because they found a fingerprint on the doorknob. The policemen saw that on the video he opened the door and then put on his gloves. And in the video you could see that his eyes were blue, and the two suspects had either blue or brown eyes. So, the police assumed that the man with the blue eyes was the suspect.
When a court meeting was held, he was proven not guilty. This kind of confused everyone. As everyone was talking, I saw one of the police officers text something, and I got the same text from before again right when he was done texting. Not only that, but he also had blue eyes. So I told the police and he had a court meeting proving that he was guilty. At the time, I didn't understand why he hadn't come up in the tests, but it was because he had special access to the files and he marked himself dead.
Right after the investigation was over, a huge amount of rain hit the entire earth. Some people were singing and dancing in the rain, and others were putting out jugs to catch the rain. The children were opening their mouths to catch the rain like snow. Without water we had nothing, but now we were saved.
