A Lax Mystery
It was a sunny Spring day, and the West End lacrosse team was playing J.T. Moore in an intense battle. Olen, playing defense, steals the ball, passes to Bec, Bec runs up the field and passes to Caleb. Caleb passes to me; 5,4,3... I wind up to shoot... 2... I shoot...1... GOAL! I score and the whole team goes wild. They carry me up the bleachers and into the locker room. I put all of my gear into my bag and go home.
When I went to bed I started dreaming about scoring the game winning goal. I also started to dream about me leaving my stick in the locker room. The next day, when it was time for lacrosse practice, I went down to the locker room to get ready. I had all of my pads on when I realized that I did not have my stick. My stomach dropped and I felt really upset. Since I did not know where my stick was, I had to use one of the junky ones. I was so upset that it was gone, that I almost started to cry after practice.
When I got home, I asked my dad if he could get me a new stick, but he told me that I had to look for it first. I started to look everywhere but I could not find it. The only place I did not check was under my bed. 'When have I ever left something under my bed?' I thought to myself.
I informed my dad that I could not find my stick so he told me to ask my buddies if they had it or saw anybody with it in the locker room. When I asked Bec he said he did not see anybody with it and did not have it. Then I asked Caleb who also did not see anybody and he did not have it. Finally, I asked Olen and he also said he did not have it and did not see anyone with it. I could not believe my stick might be gone forever!
I would not give up searching for my stick. I was really suspicious about Olen because he is always the last person out of the locker room. Bec and I teamed up to spy on Olen. After practice Bec and I stayed late to check Olen's bag. When we looked, all we found were his pads, tape and his stick. Bec and I decided to take a peek at Caleb's bag tomorrow.
The next day I met up with Bec and we went down to the locker room. We found Caleb's bag and started to check. Just like Olen's bag all we found were his pads, tape, and his stick. But then I saw a compartment on the side of his bag that could fit a stick. I got so excited that I started to run around the room! But when we looked, it was his back up stick. I was so sad that I banged my hand against one of the lockers. Then I felt worse because I was in so much pain.
The next day we decided to ask coach if he saw anyone with my stick. We started to look around to find him, but he was no where to be found. We checked his office, the locker room, and even the bathrooms, but could not find him anywhere. Then Bec realized that coach was on vacation.
The day after that we found coach and asked him if he had seen anybody with my stick. He said that he had not seen anybody but he would keep an eye out. Then we asked our assistant coach, Lucky, but he also said that he had not seen anything.
When I got home I thought about who it could be. Then my brain clicked. It was probably Bec. He has been on my side the entire time. Bec must be the culprit! I could not wait to bust him.
It was time for lacrosse and I was going to get my stick back. I told Bec I would meet him outside so I could check his bag. This was the moment of truth. I looked in his bag. I could not believe it, my stick was not there. I became so mad that I threw my helmet off and kicked it across the locker room. Then I was in the most pain I had ever had.
I got home and stomped straight to my room. I scrambled into my bed and cried for ten minutes straight. I could not stop thinking about my stick and decided to look in the one place I had not yet looked, which was under my bed. I searched below my bed and in the very back corner, I found my very favorite lacrosse stick. I was able to sleep well that night, but I had to apologize to my friends for getting them into this mess.
THE END
"The moral of the story is to always check under your bed before causing a big ruckus with your friends."
