PART I
Something felt wrong, all was quiet throughout the street, more quiet than usual. The air smelled as if we just had heavy rainfall and the streets were blanketed in fog. Just a few days ago my friend Stacey disappeared while walking her dog. Everyone says they didn't see anything but i knew someone had to be on the street that day. It made no sense, Stacey would never run away and she would never get into a strangers car. Something was wrong, all on the news kids have been reported missing and so far the numbers add up to 98(including Stacey). My mother won't let me walk to the bus stop alone anymore and even brought a taser just in case.
But today I had no choice but to walk to school today since my mother had a early meeting and my father had to watch my youngest sister cause she was sick. The walk to the bus stop seemed much longer than usual. My heart was beating out of my chest and my each breath i took was short and fast, even my own footsteps made me think someone was following me. Each time a car passed by me my heart would beat faster. I was paranoid.
Finally, I was on the bus, I slid into my normal seat. I Finally relaxed once we got to school, I felt self surrounded by the protection of all the other kids in our school, plus the teacher and the always locked doors of he school. But yet I had the feeling I was being watched. But I was just scared, and that fear was controlling me and I knew the only way that fear would go away is for Stacey would come home and tell me that she only ran away and that she was perfectly fine and laugh and be that silly , crazy girl that I knew and loved her for.
Sadly, the school day ended quickly, any other time I would have been happy but the end of school meant the seemingly long journey from the bus stop to my home. The bus ride was short but I wished it longer. I slowly got off the bus and started to walk home trying to focus on something else which happened to be my new shoes. I enjoyed the was they sparkled in the sun.
I looked up quickly when I saw a brown van stop about 4 sidewalk blocks ahead. I just stared at the van. It seemed old and rusted and seemed as if it would break down any minute. Suddenly the passanger Side door opened and a large German Shepard jumped out snarling and looking my way. "GET HER YOU STUPID MUTT!" yelled a man, his voice was deep and demanding and made me shake in fear. I turned and ran but couldn't out run German Shepard , even if I hid he would find me. But I kept running. The door was on my heels in seconds, nipping at my ankles and barking. I tripped over and edge on the sidewalk that has been a problem for all runners in our neighborhood. The dog was snarling and circling around me, I froze in terror.
The brown van pulled up beside me and the man got out of his car and came into view of me. He was tall and dark-haired and seemed red with anger, he glared at me with a ferocious eyes that showed he was in no mood to mess around with me. He reached down and grabbed me by my shirt a lifted me off the ground. I kicked and screamed and as soon as I did the man pulled out a gun, I was quickly silenced.
The man smirked "your pretty fast kid, but it was stupid for you to run, you could have really hurt yourself." He bellowed a laugh that filled me with hatred "I was hoping I could get to use this you know". He spun the gun around in his hand
