CONTEST OF GODS
Born 1991, M, from New Matamoras, OH, United StatesThe dining room of the silver castle was packed. I saw many gods and deities were gathered to hear the decision, my decision. An empty spot of heaven was up for grabs, and they all wanted it for themselves. It would not be an easy thing, knowing how I felt about them. Cruel adultress and selfish would be good words. Why did being an angel have to put me in this postition? It could have gone to another but I was chosen. When I got to the dining hall, Baal, the bull man god of rain, was having a heated argument with Anubis, the dog man god of the underworld and the Delta Nile. "The empty realm of heaven ruled by you?" scoffed Baal loudly. But Anubis stood his ground. "Better by me than a fat, stinking, pig!" No one ever spoke to Lord Baal that way. "WHAT DID YOU SAY!?" roared Baal, clenching his fists and taking a step torwed Anubis. I quickly stepped between them. "Stop!" I yelled as I stood with my arms out streached between them. "Hmmm, you're a brave little thing, aren`t` you?" Baal laughed, getting close enough to my face I could smell his rancid breath which almost knocked me down had I not held my breath. The tension was broken by a voice calling "Anubis, Anubis? I'm here!" It was Bast, cat woman goddess of cats. "Where have you been!?" yelled Anubis and struck her across the face, sending her on the floor. "Oh Anubis!Yes!" she cried, grabbing him by the face, kissing him with all her strength. "Agian! Agian!" she cried, kissing him every time he hit her. Hmmm. I should probably leave, and did just that. Being around people like that can make you stupid. Oden banged on the table yelling "When is the final decision already? Im hungry!" I saw a little angel of a boy standing a ways from the main crowd, but the crowd became restless, and soon I had to keep them from rioting. I knew who I would give the empty ground to. "I have come to a decision!" I annouced over the fighting and yelling. They all quieted quickly, as I scanned each of their faces, trying to gather strength for what I was going to say. "I cannot give it to any of you." There were shocked angry hushed wispers among them. I went to the boy and handed him the key. "This boy, came not with pride, or selfishnes in his heart. He did not boast or rave. He came as the least among us here. And that is why I give him the key." I looked around to see their expressions of my decision but was shocked to see they had tears in their eyes, and had their heads bowed in shame. "We could all learn humility from this boy." Thor said slowly. Soon after they all came up the congratulate the boy, who was already uncomfortable, but I could see in his eyes he was very pleased. And, so was I. Heh, I guess the decision I said was hard wasn`t after all.
