Case 25 - Past Memories
Born 1983, M, from Atlanta,Texas, United StatesSqueaks entered the 169th Precinct with a large yellow envelope. He was Brandon Bobel’s butler, who had disappeared when Rebella took down Brandon the first time. He stopped at the dispatch office. “I have a something for Mrs. Rebella Howard,” said Squeaks, who did not know that Rebella had remarried. “She’s out right now but if you want me to I will get her to come by the precinct,” said Ola. “No, that won't be necessary just make sure she gets the envelope,” said Squeaks handing Ola the envelope. After he handed her the envelope, he left the precinct. “What an odd little man,” thought Ola.
J.P., Tina, Harvey, and Rebella arrived back at the precinct. As they were walking down the hall to the detective’s office, Ola motioned Rebella to come into dispatch. She handed her the large yellow envelope. J.P., Tina, and Harvey went into the room beside dispatch to get coffee. Rebella came in with the large yellow envelope. “Who is it from?” asked Harvey. “I don’t know there is no name or address on it,” said Rebella opening the envelope. The envelope had a letter and a folded up set of blueprints. Rebella read the letter and became very angry. She threw the letter in the trash can. “That rat! That no good, bloated tub of lard!” shouted Rebella. She stormed out of the room and slammed the door. Tina reached down and pulled the letter out of the trash can. “My dear, Rafaella, after spending time in prison, I have realized that I did not pay you enough when you worked for me please find enclosed a set of blueprints. They will lead you to a safe which contains more than enough to pay you for your services, feel free to take it all, signed Brandon,” said Tina.
“I wonder why he called Rebella “Rafaella” and sent blueprints that shows the location of a safe” said Harvey. “Maybe it is a trap,” said Tina. J.P. just stood there and did not say a word. “You know something don’t you,” said Tina. “What I am fixing to tell you never leaves this room. Understood,” said J.P. Harvey and Tina shook their head yes. “Rebella’s real name was Rafaella Diamonds. When she was sixteen she saw a bracelet in a jewelry store window she liked but could not get it because her parents had grounded her and took away her credit card. She broke into the jewelry store and stole not only the bracelet she wanted but also other pieces that she thought were pretty. After that night it became a thrill to steal jewelry and she started breaking into other jewelry stores. The police caught her and she was still a minor at the time so they just took her home and released her to her parents. They were furious with her and threw her out on the street. She started a life of crime that would ten years, as fast as she got out of jail she was back to her old habits. Along the way she met Brandon Bobel who welcomed her into his group of thieves with open arms. While in his crew she became one of New York’s most notorious cat burglars. Two years ago she started dating a cop by the name of Colt Howard, long story short he was going to get her on the right path and help her end of her life of crime. He proposed to her in a jail cell and they got married. She went on to become a cop and was assigned to the Manhattan District. Later on she was reassigned to the 467th where she became one of the most decorated officers on the force by taking down Brandon. Colt became jealous of her accomplishments and they divorced,” said J.P.
J.P., Tina, and Harvey went down the hall to the detective’s office. Rebella was sitting on the bench outside the detective’s office. Tina and Harvey went into the detective’s office. J.P. sat down beside Rebella. “Do you want to talk about it?” asked J.P. “I am sorry for getting upset. I was completely out of line. It just seems like that since I changed my life every time I see something with that creeps name on it. It makes me furious inside and makes me want to lash out,” said Rebella “It’s just part of maturing” said J.P. “What do you mean?” asked Rebella. “When you decided to change from a life of crime it was like growing up again. You were like a young child you had to learn and mature. In the process of learning and maturing you realized what Brandon was having you do was wrong. Which caused you to develop an inner anger towards him,” said J.P. “Does it ever go away?” asked Rebella. “It depends if you keep letting it gnaw at you or if you let it go as a lesson learned,” said J.P. “Thank you,” said Rebella getting up. They went into the detective’s office.
J.P. and Rebella went into the detective’s office. Harvey and Tina were studying the blueprints. “Those are to the Bearing Arms Hotel but they are useless,” said Rebella. “What do you mean?” asked Tina. “Alister bought the hotel and then had it torn down then he paid the construction crew that did the job to close their doors,” said Rebella. “Man, that means the safe could be anywhere,” said Tina. “Before you start planning to go on a wild goose chase there is one thing you need to remember,” said J.P. “What’s that?” asked Tina. “It is outside our jurisdiction,” said J.P. picking up the blueprints. “What are you going to?” asked Harvey. “I am going to fax the information to the 467th and let them take care of it,” said J.P. He left the detective’s office.
“I was thinking”. Rebella interrupted Tina. “No,” said Rebella. “We could take a few days off and...” Rebella interrupted her again. “No,” said Rebella.
The case was assigned to Detective Stan Burbank with the 467th Precinct. The safe was eventually located and the contents were returned to their rightful owners.
