Patiently waiting, waiting patiently.
The Hare and the Fly were having a staring match intensely.
Who could hold out longer? This we would soon see.
"You are going to lose," said the Fly.
"No you are wrong," said the Hare.
"I have eyes equivalent to more than you can count," said Fly.
"But I have patience," said Hare.
"Excellent," Fly said musingly.
"Should we move on" said the Hare with a smile and a grin.
"Only if I can catch a ride," said the Fly often wishing he could hop like the Hare.
"But why" questioned Hare.
"Because if I fly," said the Fly, "I will move much faster than you. Unfortunately I can't fly slow," Fly said buzzing around the head of Hare in fast concentric circles.
"Oh" said Hare. "Hop on then."
"You do the same" said Fly, "I'm glad I met you."
"Excellent" said Hare, and they were off together on their first adventure. To where they didn't even know, but they knew they were hungry, so that was a start.
Miss Fortune was their next stop along the way, but not that type of misfortune.....
"Hay" said the Fly excitedly.
"Yes?" replied Hare.
"No, hay" said Fly, "there are horses and hay over there."
"Well I am afraid of horses" quivered Hare.
"Well I love them" said Fly, "They always have good stuff to eat off of them."
"Oh, lovely," giggled Hare.
"Great," Fly said excitedly, "Let us head over to them and I will introduce you. Horses are always extremely kind to flies."
"Perfect" said Hare a little begrudgingly.
Fly could not wait, so they trotted over where besides the horses they found Miss Fortune, a great beautifully pink pig.
"Hello," said Miss Fortune, introducing herself afterwards.
"Hi" retorted both the Fly and the Hare shyly.
"I'm excited to see you" said Miss Fortune.
"Excellent" exclaimed Fly "but why?"
"Well I love to tell Fortunes, and yours is an excellent one, I can tell!!!!"
"Excellent" proclaimed Hare, "But where does our fortune begin?"
"On adventure," the young beautiful creature giggled.
"Excellent" exclaimed Hare and Fly, and they were off on their way again, so excited they forgot to feast with the many wild horses, for they were yet to be tamed.
Hare hopped and took to flight occasionally to make sure there was no danger ahead, and as long as they were careful, they were alright.
"Time to nap" said the Hare sleepily.
"Yeah!!!! My little wings are awfully tired" Fly said falling slowly to the ground.
"Well so is my tale, which will make a very comfortable bed for you," Hare humbly offered.
"Goodnight" said Hare.
Both Hare and Fly slept peacefully together and knew that tomorrow would be a great adventure.
Early in the morning Hare woke to a startle....
"A bear" he yelped.
"Yes" said Fly, with his wings waking up.
"Excellent" said Hare, "But be careful, I'm a little weary about bears also."
"Why" whispered Fly.
"Because they are awfully hungry creatures," Hare hiccuped.
"But so are we" Fly fluttered.
"True" said Hare.
"Excellent" said Fly flying over to the bear unafraid and unabashed. Fly was very brave.
See what Hare didn't know was that bears and flies have excellent relationships, for flies always told bears where the good food was, and as the bears ate, flies would clean the bears by eating their leftovers, a very compatible relationship for the both.
When Fly flew back to Hare, Fly told Hare that the kind cuddly looking creature told them where to find a good place to eat.
"Where" questioned Hare.
"Over there" Fly fluttered.....
And off they went, for eating well is the adventure of a lifetime.
"This is nice" said Hare hopping along.
"Company always is" said Fly.
"So is time together" said Hare.
"But time goes by" Fly said sadly.
"That is why being together is so important" Hare humbly hinted.
"As well as enjoying eachother's company always is."
"Yes" said Hare hopefully wishing for more time together.
"Yes," Fly said feeling the same way, "But time cannot always be spent together."
"You are correct" proclaimed Hare, "That is why we have to enjoy the time we have."
"You are right" whispered Fly.
"Excellent," said Hare.
And off they went in search of more food.
After some time walking and a period of silence, Fly asked Hare a very important question he needed answered.
"Do you ever argue with your family?" questioned Fly.
"Yes" pondered Hare.
"Well that makes me sad" whimpered Fly.
"Why?" questioned Hare.
"Because why should we argue" Fly fluttered.
"Sometimes we need to express our opinions" said Hare "and when things get heated we are expressing ourselves with passion. Expression is the only way we get to know eachother's opinions and the more passionate we are shows how we feel. Expression is the only way we get to know each other and when voices raise it is sometimes only to get a point across....We still love each other, don't we?" Hare threw in the last question to get Fly thinking.
"Yes," said Fly, "We do."
"Excellent!" Hare said in delight.
"Always," said the Fly, "Advice is always good..."
"Well not always" warned the Hare.
"Why" questioned Fly. See Fly was young and not as experienced as Hare.
"You always have to know if the person giving the advice has your best intentions at heart."
"Oh" said Fly.
"Excellent!" said Hare knowing that Fly was learning very quickly.
"So should we move on" asked Fly.
"Maybe tomorrow" Hare said nuzzling down into a soft blanket of grass, "I am tired."
"Can I ask you one more question?" queried Fly.
"Always." Hare smiled.
"Excellent" said Fly, smiling himself and sniffing the air intently.
"Do you smell French fries?"
"Maybe tomorrow" Hare smiled once again in delight.
And they both knew that they would have another adventure awaiting them.
"Goodnight," whispered Hare.
"Always a goodnight" whispered Fly as he nuzzled into Hare's hide.
And they knew that they would sleep soundly, Fly, Hare, and all the other living creatures.
