Seven Years
Born 2005, F, from Pennsylvania, United StatesMay 18, 2015:
I got a phone call from your daughter; my step mom.
“Hi mom!” I said excitedly
She sounded as if she had been crying as she said
“Jessica, I have something to tell you.”
My smile turned to a look of concern.
“Mimi passed away yesterday” my mom said between sobs.
I was no longer concerned, nor happy.
Tears began to run down my face.
“ I don’t think you will make it to the funeral.” She said sadly.
The rest of the conversation was a blur. I remember trying to jump off of a roof later that day. Someone caught me and got me down.
That was seven years ago. A lot has happened since you left to go be with God. I don’t live with my mom and dad anymore. I am about to finish high school. I got a job. Kristin doesn’t speak to me anymore. I haven’t spoken to my dad in a while. Papa left to be with you on August 29th the same year.
I wish you could see me graduate from high school. I wish you could come to my wedding. I wish you could be here when I have my first child. I wish I could see you one last time. I wish you were here with me.
You always knew how to cheer us up.
Sebastan was two when you died. He is so big now. He is the cutest, craziest, and best little brother anyone could ask for. Hayleigh is so smart. She skipped third grade and will be in 8th grade soon. Lucas is going into high school next year. Sean’s 20th birthday is in three days.
I turn 17 in less than six months. I will graduate high school in the spring of next year. I miss you so much. We all do. I just want to see you one last time. I never got to say goodbye. I wanted to go to your funeral but I never made it in time.
Grandpa Gale went to Heaven last October. Tell him I said hi. Papa too.
I hope you are happy in heaven with grandpa Gale and Papa by your side. I love you so much and I will see you on the day that I join Jesus too.
Love,
Jessica Jo Hudak
