The Two Evelyns
Born 1955, F, from Lovelock, Nevada, United StatesOnce, there were two best friends, Evelyn L. And Evelyn P. Their two families lived close together in the same rural community. Evelyn and Evelyn went to the same one-room school.
The girls finished their chores early. And they decided to spend some free time at the local swimming hole. Evelyn L. Had permission if she took Liberty with her. She hadn't planned on brat_sitting. If that was the only way she and Evelyn P. could go swimming. E. Liberty would tag along.
The two girls lectured the kid brother every step leading to the creek. E. Liberty was to remain on the bank. He could play in the sand. And, if other boys his age were there, he could play with them.
He agreed to obey his sister and her friend.
After thrashing around in the water, Evelyn P. found herself in trouble. It looked like she was drowning. Evelyn L. thought so. She was bouncing up and down, shouting," Don't worry, I'll save you. She paddled out toward her friend. Furthermore, she wasn't sure her dog paddle swimming skills qualified her to save her friend.
Evelyn looked back at her brother. He was jumping straight up and screaming," Don't worry, Evelyn, I'll save you. Both of you. E. Liberty had been left on the bank because both girls knew he couldn't swim.
No! Stay put. If this fails, someone has to explain it to our parents. That is your job if we both drown.
The alternative was to watch her friend drown. Then to go home and tell Mr. and Mrs. P. Evelyn had drowned. No way, either two girls named Evelyn left the creek together or they both drowned.
With luck and E. Liberty’s help, the three of them returned home safely.
