A fighter that doesn’t fight
F, from Indiana, United States“Kick ‘em! Kick ‘em harder! Kick! Punch! Kick! Punch! Faster! Harder!” dad screamed. Just hearing the sound of a punch or a kick killed me. I hated fighting so much but how was I supposed to tell my fighting family I didn’t want to be a fighter? “Shanti, you know that’s gonna be you one of these days” my step mom whispered in awe. Even she was a fighter. I had no one to turn to. I had no one to tell I hated fighting to. I bite my lip in frustration. “I-I don’t feel well…c-can I go?” I asked hoping for what wasn’t coming. “No you need to stay and take notes” my step mom said a little too harshly . “Why should I stay if I don’t even want to become a fighter!” I screamed before I could stop myself. The gym got silent everyone turned towards me. “Shanti… you don’t mean that” my step mom whispered more so convincing herself. I looked around and no one was looking at me. My step mom now had tears in her eyes. “Shanti…. Please tell me your lying” my step mom said as she grabbed my face. “I’m sorry… I’m not” I whispered earning a slap. “How could you do this!?” My step mom screamed. How could I be honest she meant? How could she literally slap me in the face because of what I wanted to be?! How could she call herself my mother! First of all my mother died in a car accident when I was ten and NOBODY can replace her. Secondly my step-mom would slap me across the face for finally being honest and telling her what I wanted to be! “How could I… how could you!” I screamed slapping her back before running out the gym.
I got home and I instantly started packing. I suddenly felt something. Like I needed to run. So I went for a run. Running as fast as I could. Suddenly I Heard a gun shot. I turned to see a tail and blood. What the heck was going on.

08/20/2021I like the story based on our right to decide what we are to become in life as opposed to familiy traditions. The intense drama generated by the controversy kept me reading. Thanks for sharing.
Question: Did you mean a literal tail or a trail?
