Silent Winter Scene
Born 1968, M, from Stone Mountain, United StatesYou don’t love this season
I see
Quiet to the point
We hear snowflakes
Crashing
On the leaves below
Silent winter dawn
Icicles cracking
Deafening
Melt and dive
From leafless limbs above
Silence
Geese and sparrows
As far south
As they would fly
We hear them strutting
On the sunrise
I heard it visit
Very early in the morning
The wind
Chasing
The clouds
The moon and
Woke the trees
Whistling like the kettle
Boiling water
For lemon ginger tea
Visions of speed skating
In Winter Olympic dreams
The lake completely frozen
Taken forever, it seems
Lynx chase hare
Across an icy stream
Solely in summer, you believe
But before long
You’ll learn to love
This silent winter scene

11/09/2020True. Picturesque and festive. But to run into it when it has bad intentions.

11/05/2020Nicely done. I remember many a lovely Silent Winter Scene from my childhood growing up in Alberta, Canada. Your poem took me back there. Thanks for sharing your lovely story poem on Storystar, Elliott.
