The silliest Poem you ever read.
Born 1951, M, from Wilmington NC, United StatesWhere did I put my jacket,
No one seems to know.
I might have left it near the elder bush
Where people too old often grow
Or maybe it just landed,
on a spit of land
Something so very hard to do
Unless you can truly spit sand
I checked under the umbrella
where even rain can’t hide
but when I looked and looked some more
there wasn’t any thing inside
Other creatures wear their fur
so they don’t have to look
to see where their jackets have gone
since they sipped at the bubbling brook
I know I set my jacket down upon the ground
I heard it hit the grass with a lovely little sound
even the zipper made a little rush
as it nestled against the side of a very tiny bush
I didn’t need it then, but I need it now
the sun has decided to cool not heat
and therefore I am freezing from head to feet
without the body fat of say pig or cow
Some people are warmed by ideas, or love, or gloves
but I find that to be really warm, old flames or loves
don’t work as well as my Jacket does
Even wool can be used to fleece, but seldom is except to cover
Where or where did I put my jacket down
I have looked where I was, and when I was too
I even looked back when I was through
I saw mountains, sunsets, a rainbow or two
but never where I looked, did my jacket come into view
Oh, here it is, and it made me chuckle,
I zipped it up and closed the buckle
For looking for it made me all wrong,
because I had been wearing my jacket all along.

Help Us Understand What's Happening

09/07/2018I have heard about a lot of people who look for their glasses when they are actually wearing them, but this is the first I've heard of someone looking for the jacket they were wearing... obviously because they were cold... therefore did not feel covered by a warm jacket...! I'm sure it happens a lot more than I think! And the same is probably just around the corner for me, so I should not laugh at anyone who is having this problem! : )

09/06/2018Jd, I was feeling a bit silly. I don't do poetry because it is so hard to do. You can't use a good word in poetry, you have to use the exact right word. So I just let my mind wander around like a little kid. And as you some times note, wearing my jacket AND looking for it is a semi- true story. LOL Smiles, Kevin
