The Man with the Black Eyes
Born 2002, F, from Michigan, United StatesThe Man with the Black Eyes
Milo is just an average pug. He always slept, and never did anything interesting. So it’s very strange when I can hear his claws scratching the wooden floors upstairs at midnight. Especially since nobody was home except for me. I decide to check it out, but as I'm walking up the stairs I heard something hit the floor. It was a very loud *THUD*. At this point I started to freak out.
I changed my mind about investigating and ran to the window in my basement. I shoved on it as hard as I could until it popped open. I crawled out and put the window back in place so my mother wouldn't be angry with me, if I lived through this. I then went around the side of my house to peer into another window. Maybe I would be able to see whatever was in my house. I had “911” already dialed just in case I had to call them urgently. Before I got to the window I stopped and rethought what I was about to do. Do I really want to risk my life just to ease my curiosity?
The thing about my house is that it's big enough that anybody could hide anywhere for a while and people probably wouldn't notice. So even if I did take a peek inside, I might not even be able to see what's going on. Well, my curiosity got the better of me and I peered in through the window. What I saw was an indescribable amount of fear coming from my poor pug. Milo was staring off into blackness absolutely terrified. I love my dog very much so I wanted to be a “hero” and save him, like in the movies. I opened my front door, grabbed him, and full-out sprinted up the stairs and hid behind the couch.
I sat there for a good 5 minutes, breathing heavily, and still holding Milo who was barking towards the balcony. I really didn't feel like investigating any more than I already had. I was exhausted from running, being scared, and having a million thoughts zooming through my head. But I did it anyways. I slowly walked towards the balcony trying to hold Milo’s mouth closed, so whatever was in my house wouldn’t hear us coming.
I look over the balcony and freeze. My heart drops. There is a black man probably around my father’s age standing by my shoes staring back at me. Milo goes ballistic. He starts snarling, biting, and scratching at my arms trying to get me to drop him. The bites and scratches were the least of my problems. I was in a complete trance, having no idea what to do we both just stared at each other. My mouth was wide open locked in place. The man had no white in his eyes. They were 100% completely black. It was almost like he didn't have a soul. I tried to scream but nothing came out. I was so dead. If this guy didn't kill me, then my parents would for not locking the doors, as I was supposed to. I finally drop Milo and he sprints downstairs. My trance was broken at this point and I tried to stop him, but as he reached the bottom of the steps I look to where the man was standing and he was gone. Just like that, the man with the black eyes disappeared. Milo searched around sniffing for a while until he finally gave up. I didn't hear any noises or anything. The man literally just snapped his fingers and was gone.
Long story short, my parents never came home. I’m not quite sure what happened to them and there was no trace of where they went or even of their bodies if they had died. Milo was found dead the next morning by my shoes where the man was standing. I was alone for a while. But I have almost completely moved on since then. It's been 8 years since the incident. I don't know what the man was but he couldn't have been human. Anybody I tried to explain what happened that night to, would recommend a “nice insane asylum” for me. I suggest one thing and one thing only for all of you reading this. If you come across a man/thing with black eyes. Do not go near it.
