My New Year's Resolution
Born 1998, F, from Warwick, Rhode Island, United StatesMy New Year's Resolution
Just because it’s 2016 doesn’t mean anyone is a new person. I didn’t make any New Year’s resolutions and I don’t think anybody should. Everyday you should strive to be a better person than you were the day before. You decide what happens in your life. Don’t plan on being a great person, losing weight, or working harder. Throughout the year and years to come you’ll reach goals by being yourself. If you want something bad enough and are determined then things will work out, but if it doesn’t, then it wasn’t meant to be.
Listen to your heart and see where life takes you, rather than making a list and failing to succeed. A new year doesn’t erase the past. Everything happens for a reason and all you can do is go along for the ride. We can’t fix every problem, but you can look at things in a different perspective. Coming into things with a changed mindset or attitude could make all the difference. The only thing I’m telling myself this year, is to keep to myself, be real, and make sure to always do what makes me happy.
New Year’s is just another day. It has absolutely no meaning nor does it have any significance. Resolutions very rarely even work out. Most give up, can’t do it, or are too lazy to continue them. Always keep goals for yourself, but be realistic. Being a nicer person isn’t a New Year’s resolution. Think deeper and reach far into yourself and figure out who you are.
