The Boy Who Could Fly
Born 1982, F, from Sunrise, United StatesThere was a boy named Cody who couldn't wait for winter break to arrive. The reason why he looked forward for the holidays is the fact he is away at an all boys' boarding school for gifted children. Sitting in the classroom and trying to stay awake from his teacher's lectures, Cody sips some Mountain Dew. Then, he looks at his watch, anxiously waiting for the bell to ring. When his teacher, Mr. Miles, goes towards Cody, Cody sits straight up, stretches out his arms, and yawns. Mr. Miles asks Cody, "So, Cody, how is life treating you? Are you looking forward to the holidays?" Cody smiles and responds, "You bet, Mr. Miles. All I'm doing is slacking at home and sleeping." Mr. Miles laughs and says to the entire class, "When I was 12, I counted down the days on my calendar; I looked forward to the holidays too." When the bell rang, Cody sprung up and raced out of the classroom and to the snack bar. When he got there, Cody bought himself some teriyaki chicken wings and took the bus to the airport.
On the plane, Cody pulled out his laptop and started watching movies, since the plane ride is three hours long. While enjoying the movie, there was a wind that is so strong and violent that the plane started going out of control. Everyone, including Cody, panicked. Knowing that the plane is going to crash, Cody stuffed his laptop and chicken wings in his book bag, grabbed a parachute, and jumped from the plane. He didn't want to die, not like this. He already made plans to see his family.
After jumping from the plane, Cody safely landed on a desert in Mexico. He looked around and knew where he was because he paid attention in history class. Figuring out how he was going to get home, Cody tried calling for help on his cell phone. But he had no signal. Then, remembering the chicken wings he bought earlier, Cody took them out of his book bag and began eating them. When he was done, Cody spread out his arms and began the fly. Thanks to the chicken wings, he was able to get home to his family.
While flying, Cody was above all the buildings and the people walking and driving to where they need to go. Because the chicken wings had magical powers, Cody flew home in no time. When he reached home, Cody pulled out his key and let himself in. His parents were so elated to see him. Then his mother asked, "The plane you were on, I saw it was going to crash on the news. How did you manage to get home without being injured?" Smiling at his parents, Cody replied, "I bought some teriyaki chicken wings. While being stranded in Mexico, I just ate them and the next thing I knew, I was flying." Then, his parents hugged him and they all celebrated with a big dinner. It turns out that Cody got his wish after all.
