Extraordinaries: One night.
Born 1998, F, from Knowhere, space, United StatesThe sound of many crickets singing echoed loudly through her bedroom. The full moon shone brightly and the stars seemed to wink at her. She repositioned herself again, frustrated and unable to sleep. There was some nagging thought but she couldn’t figure out what it was, actually lots of thoughts ran through her mind. Like how well she and Seamus had trained together in the past week, and how she loved watching him shoot apples out of the tree across the street. That’s when she realized that she liked him, not as a friend either. She had always liked him as if he were a family member, but now she wanted him to be more than that.
MEANWHILE
He sat with his legs over the edge of the bed, feeling restless and wide awake. In the past week his feelings for Hailstorm had grown stronger, he loved training with her and watching snow form in her hands. He loved the way her piercing blue eyes gleamed and her beautiful blue hair flowed in the breeze. Just then his cell phone lit up showing he had a new message from Hailstorm. It read ‘Hey, if you’re awake meet me in the living room ASAP. Don’t wake anyone else.’ Puzzled he got up and ran out quietly. Sneaking past the other bedrooms, he was careful not to alert anyone. Soon he got to the living room and Hailstorm was standing next to the couch.
“Hey Seamus. I couldn’t sleep. There’s something i’ve been meaning to tell you.”
He could sense the vibe she was giving off. “Oh really? There’s something i’d like to say too.” Walking over to the coat rack he grabbed his car keys and nodded to her. “Let’s go for a ride.”
She nodded and followed him out to the car. It was a nice charcoal grey convertible, with leather seats. They both jumped in without even opening the doors since the top was down, they gave each other a nod and he started the car. He looked at the mansion one last time and then pulled away, for the first few minutes they were silent, and he went on to an empty road with nothing but trees on either side. He accelerated and together they zipped down the open road. Hailstorm gave a short yeehaw of delight as her hair flew perfectly behind her. “This is great!!!” She exclaimed, having forgotten how amazing a summer night’s drive felt.
BACK AT THE MANSION
He woke up, after hearing a car’s engine and ran down to the control room. When he saw through the surveillance footage that the car was gone he called everyone else downstairs. Groggily and a bit confused they walked into the control room, Delilah was the first to say anything. “Ex13, if we’re gonna get sucked into another portal i’m out of here.”
“No it’s not that. The grey convertible is gone!”
“You needed to wake us up at two am to tell us that?” She snapped. Then she noticed that Hailstorm and Seamus were not with them. “Oh dear gosh. They wouldn’t! Not those two, they’re not thieves.”
“No I think they went on some solo mission. Well a duet mission but still!”
Lorelei smirked. “Oh they’re on a mission alright… hehehe.”
Delilah stared at her. “I highly doubt those two would go on THAT kind of mission Lorelei. I trust them so everyone go back to bed, when they get back we’ll question them then.” Everyone left and went back to bed worried about their teammates.
MEANWHILE ON A COUNTRY ROAD…
He parked in a small clearing that overlooked a lake, it was beautiful and peaceful. There was also no chance someone would find them. “So what was it you wanted to say? I have a feeling as to what it is…” He looked into her icy blue eyes, and they seemed to be on fire.
“Well… for a little while now i’ve felt… i’ve had this feeling.. um... I don’t know how to say it really.” She stammered. Angry that she thought she would be able to admit it with no problem, but the words kept getting jumbled.
“I know what you’re going to say and I feel the same way. Every little thing about you makes me crazy. And your eyes, oh your beautiful icy blue eyes just kill me.”
“Want to… not talk for awhile?” She said as she flipped her hair, and her eyes twinkled. A feeling unlike anything welled up inside of her, and they leaned in closer to each other. In just a few seconds they were kissing, and he stroked her hair as she put her hands around his neck. Hitting a button the top of the car went up, and they crawled into the back seat. They continued kissing, and Hailstorm began unbuttoning his shirt as he stroked her hair and then started unzipping her jacket. A feeling of heat seemed to rush through her and she pulled off her blouse to reveal beautiful skin and a black lace bra. Her skin was gorgeous and she had nice looking abs. He always knew she was beautiful but now even more so. Then he stopped kissing her for a moment, and reached under the seat, when he pulled his hand out he had a nice sized bottle of vodka.
“Want something to drink?” He opened it and took a few sips before handing it to Hailstorm who drank a good amount. He set it aside and stroked her leg as they continued to kiss each other. He helped her get her skirt slipped off, and her legs were long and lean. She was a beautiful woman and he felt absolute admiration for her. They paused to take a few more sips of vodka but not too long, soon the rest of their clothing was invisible and things got crazy for a while. Every now and then they’d pause for a few sips of vodka and then resume taking care of business. So absorbed in loving her and getting drunk time flew by like there was a shortage of it. Eventually they slowed down a little and fell asleep together, Hailstorm’s arm across his chest and his arm under her back they were a little tangled up as they slept.
MEANWHILE AT THE MANSION
Ex13, Delilah, Lorelei and Dr. Aeron all sat in silence in the surveillance room, they woke up hoping that Hailstorm and Seamus had returned but they had not. They were all worried that they had been killed or kidnapped or something else. Lorelei kept trying to find them but the headache she had limited how far she could go. “I wish I could find them but they’re out of my range right now.” Saying as she gritted her teeth in pain, and tried to push past it.
Dr. Aeron replied. “It’s alright Lorelei, you shouldn’t try too hard or you could hurt yourself.”
“But what if they are in my range and they’ve been killed! I have to keep looking.” She said stubbornly. Delilah snapped angrily.
“Why did they have to go out at two am? They should have told us they were leaving. Last time someone went on a mission alone was when Seamus killed that murderer and he nearly died of blood loss! Didn’t he learn his lesson?” Sighing she took a sip of coffee.
IN A CAR ON A COUNTRY ROAD.
He opened his eyes and the sunlight made his head pulse with pain. Having nearly forgotten where he was, he saw Hailstorm next to him and the sweet memory flooded over him, and he pulled his clothes on. Even the way she slept was beautiful to him, and didn’t want to miss a single moment, but he knew that he had to drive home and face his teammates who’d probably be worried. He touched her arm and spoke gently, knowing that she’d have a headache too. “Hey, Hailstorm.”
She bolted up and then groaned as she felt the pain from the empty bottle of vodka. “We really polished off that whole thing?”
“Well it was mostly you but yeah. We have to go home now. Want to stop and get coffee from Star Donuts?”
She nodded slowly and then climbed into the front seat. He got into the drivers seat and carefully he began driving, his vision was a bit blurred, and he tried to think of a way to explain what happened to his friends.
Hailstorm looked at him, “They can’t know just yet, we’ll have to say we were on a solo mission. Although we don’t have any wounds to show for a fight…”
“I will.” He said, as he took the empty bottle and smashed it, using a piece of glass to make cuts on his arms, Hailstorm did the same thing. He also made a small cut under his eye for good measure and she cut her lip. Soon they got to Star Donuts and they ordered some coffee to try and get rid of the hangovers. They rode in silence almost the rest of the way home and when they parked outside they each took a deep breath when they saw it was eight o clock. Everyone would be awake. Slowly they got out of the car, and shakily too, as the effects of the alcohol were still wearing off. They went up the stairs and into the mansion, and as soon as they got into the living room the others were already there with an angry look in their eyes.
Delilah was the first to speak. “So. Would you care to explain where you disappeared to at two am? And the reason you’re all cut up?”
Seamus and Hailstorm exchanged glances. He replied, “Well, I got a text saying to meet up with someone away from here, and I brought Hailstorm because on the way out I must have woken her and she insisted on going along. So then I drove to where the text told me to go and we fought a man who shoots broken glass out of his hands. Hailstorm froze him and then shattered him to bits which we threw in the lake. After that we were tired so we got some rest before coming home.” He rubbed his eyes to make it look convincing, and Ex13 replied.
“Yeah but why didn’t you tell the rest of us? We’re your team.”
Hailstorm responded. “Well we wanted to do this alone and see if we could do it ourselves! Plus we wanted you guys to sleep.”
Dr. Aeron, “After you left we couldn’t sleep once we realized you were missing. You could have been killed. I’m surprised you’re injuries aren’t more severe.”
“Yes but doesn’t this prove that we are strong enough to make it on our own?” Seamus asked.
Lorelei glared at him. “That’s not the point! The point is you could have at least left a note! If you said you wanted to do it alone we would have respected that and been ready if you needed us. Can we see the text you got?” She asked suspiciously.
He felt his phone in his pocket, and then crushed it before he took it out. “It’s kinda broken.”
Ex13 replied. “We could get the memory card out of it.”
He threw his phone to the ground and stepped on it a couple of times. “That’s broken now. There’s pictures on there you shouldn’t see.” Everyone stared at them suspiciously, and Dr. Aeron could smell alcohol on them, though he didn’t say anything about it. If the truth were to come out they’d have to do it themselves.
